Firefox is "the" browser by the Mozilla Foundation.
It is widely recommend to use instead of IE because of it's security and usability.

It is very feature rich! Like integrated Popup-Blocker, Tabbed Browsing, Find-As-You-Type or extension support.
It is "cross-platform" running on Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix, etc...
It is more secure. The developers especially focus on security issues. There are few to no real security flaws known.
